Opening Rounds of the Big Tourney, Who’s Hot and Who Could Be Going Home Early (Part Two)

Who's On Fire?
Right now there are only three teams that I think are on fire heading into the tournament.
Kentucky
There is no doubt that Kentucky is one of the hottest teams in college basketball today.
I just believe UK has something more than the other number one seeds.
Kentucky through out the season has only lost two games this season.
One game was lost against Tennessee and one against South Carolina.
There is nothing significant about these teams and they are games that the Wildcats should have won.
The thing that impresses me is that when UK played these teams again they didn't make the same mistakes again and they crushed their competition.
Against South Carolina the second time around they won 82-61, and South Carolina has been a team who has had success...

This week has just been the beginning of March Madness and some games have already have your head in a spin.
Currently people are filling out brackets and arguing who should have made it, and who possibly didn’t deserve to be in the big dance.
The biggest experts on the sport can predict all they’d like and be completely wrong this is the fun of March Madness.
All we can do is break it down and guess who will be in Indianapolis come April 3rd.
Who’s In Danger Of Going Home Early
Purdue
The biggest disappointment I’ve seen after this weeks conference tournaments has been Purdue.
They lost Robbie Hummel, one of their best players, after he injured his knee and they just haven’t been the same since.
Purdue beat Northwestern by eight points and I...

By Ben Altsher By and large the NCAA selection committee does a solid job when it comes to picking the 65 team field for the NCAA men's basketball tournament. However, almost every year there's a team that makes the field as an at-large bid which makes the analysts and pundits scratch their heads, while multiple teams are usually left wondering what more they could've done to avoid NIT-hell. This year was no different as some unexpected results in conference tournament play led to some interesting decisions about teams on the bubble. Let's start with the Western Athletic Conference where Utah State ran off a 17 game win streak between the regular season and the playoffs, but couldn't finish the job with a 69-63 loss to New Mexico State, their second setback in three...

Battle for Final Top Seed Rages On
- By benaltsher

By Ben Altsher Without a doubt there are three locks for number one seeds in the NCAA tournament. Kansas was the preseason favorite and has proven themselves all year long. Kentucky was also expected to do well and has lived up to those expectation behind a crew of stellar underclassmen. Syracuse had an early exit (and an injury scare) in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament, but they've clearly done enough to warrant a top spot. The only question left is who else will earn that coveted seed that all but assures a team of at least one tournament victory. Duke would appear to be the odds-on favorite. Even after a loss to Maryland that kept them from winning the ACC regular season title outright, the Blue Devils are probably the...
