Suns finally get road win, back to back next?
- By Alex Sanderson
- January 6th, 2010
On Tuesday night in a road contest against the young but tough Sacramento Kings, Phoenix started off hot but then allowed the Kings to get right back into it in the third quarter.
That was a recurring theme in the team's seven-game road losing streak heading into the Sacramento game.
This time, however, Steve Nash and the Suns were not going to be denied their 22nd win, ninth on the road.
The Kings have a lot of talent, but the Suns ended up winning, at least in part due to team chemistry and experience.
“As far as talent and athleticism and size, they’re better than we are in many ways,” Nash said.
“But experience and cohesion has got to be what allows us to beat a team like that.”

Big game tonight for the Suns
- By Alex Sanderson
- December 28th, 2009
The month of December has been all about inconsistency for the once dominant 2009-2010 Phoenix Suns team.
You look at the Suns results and you see a 5-9 record in the month, but they are still 19-12 overall.
The team has had a few good moments, such as blowing out the Clippers at home on Christmas day, but then they come out the next night and lose a shoot-out to the lowly Golden State Warriors.
Most of the good moments have been at home while most of the bad moments have been either in road games or on in the second game of back-to-backs.
Tonight, they will host the defending champion and NBA-leading Los Angeles Lakers, so it doesn't get any easier.
In two previous meetings this season, both on the...
Suns drop first home game of year

Seeing the Cleveland Cavs in their home building couldn't have been a welcome sight for the Phoenix Suns on Monday Night, as Steve Nash and company were attempting to improve their home record to 11-0 on the year.
Last season, the Cavs got the better end of the Suns in both occasions, mostly with their uncanny ability to run Phoenix off the three-point line and cause Steve Nash to work harder than he normally does to direct the offense.
Monday night was no different as the Cavs came in and shut the door on the Suns undefeated run at home, 109-91.
Phoenix (18-10) hung around for most of the game, but couldn't muster any offense late in the fourth-quarter.
The Cavs did a great job of forcing the Suns off of...
Suns to kick off regular season today
- By Alex Sanderson
- December 22nd, 2009
If you go just by what happened last season, the Suns task of trying to open their 2009-2010 season with a victory over the Los Angeles Clippers should be one that they fulfill easily. However, nothing in the NBA is that simple. The Clippers are coming off a competitive game against the defending champion Lakers on opening night. While they ended up losing, it would appear that this year's team is going to enjoy more success than last year's, even with No. 1 pick Blake Griffin sitting on the sidelines until sometime in December. What the Suns should be most worried about heading into tonight's game is rebounding, yet again. Phoenix had the worst rebounding differential in the preaseason, and the Clippers are likely to start two legitimate centers that...
Lopez to have surgery
- By Alex Sanderson
- December 22nd, 2009
Suns backup center Robin Lopez is scheduled to have surgery today on his left foot today at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix. Lopez broke a bone in the foot in the team's intrasquad scrimmage in San Diego on Saturday. He is expected to miss six to eight weeks, which means he would miss the start of the regular season. Lopez is expected to get regular playing time this season after getting spotty minutes behind Shaquille O'Neal last season. With Lopez on the shelf, the minutes of Amare Stoudemire, Channing Frye and Louis Amundson are likely to...
Suns get off to good start sans Nash

- December 22nd, 2009
In their first pre-season game on Tuesday, the Suns looked strong in defeating Serbian powerhouse Partizan Belgrade 111-80. Star point guard Steve Nash didn't attend the game because of a congested chest, but backup Goran Dragic shined in his absence, leading the team with 16 points. All five Suns starters scored in double figures in the game. Channing Frye hit a couple of three-pointers, showing off his range as a big man that Nash will take with open arms once he is back on the court. His injury is nothing to worry about as he would have most likely played if it was a regular-season game. Another positive from the game is that Amare Stoudemire looked explosive and more trimmed down. He was happy with his effort as well. To take seven...
