Lookout Tim Brown, there is a new 81 in Oaktown.
This guy is one of those freak of nature types of receivers. His big frame is imposing to smaller defensive backs. His speed is right up there with the fastest guys in the league. His aerial acrobatic style catches are a result of tremendous effort and his “I want ball at all costs” mentality.
Of course no Raiders Fan will ever forget the great future Hall of Famer, Tim Brown. He set all types of team records, was a Raider for almost his entire career, and caught nearly everything that came near him.
However, if any new 81 was going to replace the old 81, Raider fans would want it to be Chaz Schilens.
Why all this hype about a guy who has only has 15 career receptions? Easy, because Raiders of all types; fans, coaches, fellow players, and owner Al Davis are all in agreement when we say that the guy has a very serious upside.
We’re talking upside like Chaz Schilens has the potential to be talked about in the “best receiver in the league today” conversations within the next two years.
He is a lightning fast and huge receiver (6′4″ 225 lbs. with 4.3 40 yard dash) who has the softest hands of any receiver since Jerry Rice and Tim Brown.
Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell said Schilens was a guy, “we definitely miss,” and also said Schilens was, “the type of guy who will go up and fight for it (the ball).”
Schilens’ return to the field is highly anticipated by everyone in Raider Nation from top to bottom.
He has a lot on his shoulders, as he is expected to provide a new element to an offense that has struggled so far this season.
I, for one, fully expect him to deliver the goods. I don’t think mental toughness is something we will have to worry about with Schilens the way we do with DHB and Louis Murphy.
If it comes close to him, he is going to catch it, or draw a flag.
If this guy is not on your fantasy football roster, this is the time to pick him up. Most leagues waivers clear tomorrow, go get him.

I gotta say I’ve never heard of the guy but if he provides some production to that offense I’m all for him. Go Chaz
I can’t wait for him to play. DHB has been frustrating, I knew we should have gotten Macclin.
