Philadelphia Eagles v Oakland Raiders

It looked as though John Marshall scrapped Al Davis’ defensive playbook sending relentless blitzes that amounted to six sacks of the Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb.

The Eagles failed to even reach the endzone. The Raiders defense was nearly flawless.

JaMarcus Russell was 17-28 for 224 yards 1 TD, and 2 interceptions. The interceptions wound up being for naught, however, because the Eagles failed to score points off either turnover.

Russell played a great first half, in the second half not so good, but it was enough to seal the victory 13-9 over an explosive Philly team who were scoring the second most points in the league coming into the game.

The Raiders defense held the Eagles to just 67 rushing yards and 216 passing yards. They forced the Eagles to punt eight times.

The Oakland offense controlled time of posession 32:38 to 26:58. Russell had his best game of the year despite the two picks. He hit Zach Miller for 86 yards early, and the Oakland Raiders took a 10-6 lead into halftime.

Eagles kicker David Akers missed two of his five field goal attempts. He is partly to blame in the loss, as if he had hit all the attempts, the Eagles would’ve won the game 15-13.

MLB Kirk Morrison kept his team leading pace for tackles with 11 tackles on the day. Richard Seymour and Trevor Scott each added two sacks as Thomas Howard and Jay Richardson each chimed in with one.

Justin Fargas was a big hit in the Raiders rushing game. He racked up 87 yards on 23 carries. Michael Bush left the game early with an undiagnosed injury.

TE Zach Miller was a primary target early on, he compiled six catches for 139 yards and got his first touchdown of the year.

Reserve FB Gary Russell was a key factor in the victory, with 5 catches for 55 yards and sealed the victory with a 19 yard catch for the Raiders final first down which iced the game.

Sebastian Janikowski remained flawless on the year hitting 2 of 2 on field goals for Oakland. He is 9 for 9 on the season.

What a huge victory for Oakland just when everything was looking so bleak. The Raiders offense posted 18 total first downs, and broke the 200 yard total yard mark for the first time in five games with 325 total yards on the day.

A crazy impressive win over a heavily favored Eagles team.
