Mark Stuart smokes Anze Kopitar
- By Eric Burton

Check out the hit that former C.C. star Mark Stuart puts on Anze Kopitar, it’s text book clean, elbows down, didn’t go for Kopitar’s head. Then you have Wayne Simmonds dropping the gloves because Stuart put a legal hit in his teammate. I have to agree with Bob McKenzie and what he has to say, don't we want legal hitting in the game and I think fighting after a legal hard check is senseless in this case. I would the fighting reserved for violations of the hockey code. Immediately after the hit, the Kings' very fine forward Wayne Simmonds immediately challenged Stuart to a fight and Stuart obliged by dropping the gloves. As it turned out, Stuart broke his pinky finger in the fight. He will be out a number...
Toronto deal could leave Bruins with bad hand
- By Eric Burton

Personally, I think that Chiarelli has done nothing to make the Bruins a contender this year. I said it before that when Kessel left the Bruins for Toronto and Chiarelli said that Wheeler, Sturm and Bergeron where going to fill the void left by Kessel I knew the Bruins were in trouble. Looks like my predictions are coming true. My grade for the Bruins GM for far this season is a "D". A practical man with a Harvard education, Chiarelli now founds himself in a most precarious position. He may have to do something that goes against his nature; he may have to do something purely for the sake of doing it. Last week, Chiarelli told anyone who would listen that he had no intentions of trading the Toronto selection in...

Northeast Division introduction.
- By Eric Burton
- February 2nd, 2010
I would like to introduce myself my name is Eric Burton and I run the semi successful blog Goon's World which focuses on the seven time NCAA division one hockey champion University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux Hockey, the Boston Bruins and Minnesota Wild. I am excited about getting an opportunity to write for the Fan Huddle. This season I will be covering my favorite NHL division the Northeast Division. Last night the Northeast Division kicked off the NHL season with a pair of games, in one game the Washington Capitals dismantled the Boston Bruins 4-1 with two goals from Alex Ovechkin. The Bruins looked slow and out of step and were beat to the puck all night. Ovechkin made Tim Thomas looked like an unseasoned rookie backup. The Habs and...
Goon’s predictions for the Northeastern Division.
- By Eric Burton

1.) Boston Bruins – The Bruins are the most complete team in the Northeastern Division. Even with the loss of forward Phil Kessel (36g-24a-60pts) I expect the Bruins to remain in the top spot in the Northeast Division. The Bruins have grit and size and offensive prowess and will continue to roll 3-4 lines. The Bruins added former Hab Steve Begin and he will play on one of the tougher bruiser lines in the NHL with Byron Bitz and Shawn Thornton. Milan Lucic is becoming one of the more feared forwards in the NHL. With loss of forward Phil Kessel to the Leafs the Boston Bruins are looking for Marco Sturm and Patrice Bergeron to pick up the slack. Those are some big shoes for that duo to fill, since...
