World Series Game Six Classic Preview
  • By VegasRich
  • November 4th, 2009

Hollywood would be hard pressed to write a better script than the one we have today in real life. The New York Yankees go after their 27th World Title in the spanking brand new 1.2 billion dollar stadium replica of the House That Ruth Built.

They will attempt this monumental feat on the back of 37 year old Andy Pettitte who has won more post season games than anyone else in the history of the sport. He will face the legendary Pedro Martinez undoubtedly the finest pitcher of his generation in the very twilight of his career.

Most of us believed that Pedro's remarkable career was over when he didn't receive any offers coming out of spring training this year despite his fine showing in the World Baseball Classic. I was besides myself...

Phillies Down But Not Out

Charlie Manuel says he's team is resilient.

He points out the fact that the team has lost 22 games this season where they led after the 7th inning.

That sounds like the 2008 New York Mets to me.

But in this case it was the Phillies this year and not the Mets last year who ultimately wound up winning the World Series.

(ouch) I too am quite confident that this series is far from over.

On the Yankee side all one must do is just look back a short 5 years when they were one game from eliminating their most hated rival, the Boston Red Sox and unless you've been hiding in a time capsule you know what happened there. For the Yanks to close this puppy out they are going to have...

Game Four Preview: What is a Fan to Do?

For the first time since they were down 2-0 to the Colorado Rockies in the first round of the 2007 playoffs, the Phillies find themselves in a very uncomfortable position.

They are behind for the first time in six previous playoff appearances and instead of having their ace to bring back for a tying series victory, they are forced to start a guy who has given up only 30 home runs during the regular season. This, and C.C.

Sabathia again is what the Phillies have to face to get even in this 2009 World Series.

The only saving grace is the Phillies are confident they can handle C.C.

here at Citizens Bank Park.

They will flashback to the last year's NLDS where Shane Victorino parked a Grand Slam Home Run on...

The National League East: Final Weekend
  • By VegasRich
  • November 1st, 2009

The MLB regular season comes to a grinding halt this Sunday after 162 grueling games and some will say that in the NL East everything has gone according to plan. The Phillies have clinched their third straight division crown. The Nats have put together two back to back 100 game season losses. The Marlins and the Braves fought for a wild card position into the last week of the season and the Mets lost over 90 games, the first time they did that since 2004. They did what? Yes the Mets, the preseason co favorite with the Phillies in the NL East, had what many dire Mets fans are saying was the most disappointing season in the history of the franchise. Personally I wouldn't go that far. 1987 was the stinker of all time....

NLDS Preview: Phillies vs. Rockies

Flashback to only two years ago, 2007 and these same two teams were to meet in the NL Division Series. The Philadelphia Phillies had overcome a seven game deficit with 17 games to play. Trying to erase some ghosts of their own, particularly the "Big Choke" of 1964 when the Phillies blew a six game lead with 10 games to go against the St. Louis Cardinals, this team came charging down the stretch led by their big three Ryan Howard, Chase, Utley and NL MVP winner Jimmy Rollins. However, the vast majority of the 2007 team weren't even born in 1964, except for Jaime Moyer, when that Phillies team gave away that pennant in 1964. This team had a terrific September and beat the highly favored New York Mets to win...
