Kings holding tight in the sixth playoff spot

With a win and loss the past two games the Kings have dropped down to the sixth spot Western Conference.

Only one point separates them from Colorado who sits in the fifth spot. Another loss can send them further down the line and instead of holding tight at number five or four they could be struggling just to hang on.

With only 14 games left in the regular season the Kings can’t afford another loss.

After learning earlier today that the Chicago Blackhawks would be without one of their top defensemen Brian Campbell for up to eight weeks, we were also informed after 'Hawks practice that Kim Johnsson will be out of the lineup as well. Johnsson was held out of the 'Hawks last game against the Washington Capitals with an upper body injury and apparently the same injury will keep him out of the game against Anaheim Ducks. According to coach Joel Quenneville, Johnsson could return to the Blackhawks lineup as soon as Saturday against the Phoenix Coyotes. With Johnsson out of the lineup for at least the next two games, the Blackhawks blue line will look much different.

It will feature far less offensive upside with the likes of Nick Boynton and Jordan Hendry stepping in...

They beat an all star Canadian team 5-3 on Sunday, and put themselves in the number one spot going into the quarter finals.

Brian Rafalski a veteran defenseman from the Detroit Red Wings gave the US the early lead.

The Canadians however were quick to answer back, when Eric Staal got one past Ryan Miller to tie at one apiece.

Later in the period Rafalski wasn’t finished.

He got the unassisted goal that put the US on top heading into the second period.

It was a close game with Canada trailing only by a goal.

But they could never really gain any control of the game and when Jamie Langenbrunner scored the...
