I’m Pretty Happy About the Hermida Trade

Yesterday Hermida was traded from the Marlins to the Red Sox for minor league pitchers Jose Alvarez and Hunter Jones. The Red Sox now have control over Hermida for the next two seasons.

I agree with Theo Epstein on this trade that Hermdia has a lot of potential that he hasn’t realized yet and he could be a very good player. Besides the Red Sox didn’t give up too much for him.

But thats not why I’m happy about this trade.

Hermida last season hit .265 with a .344 OBP however against the Mets he turned it up to a .310 with a .394 OBP.  In fact, in terms of batting average against the Mets, I believe that only Hanely had a better one on the Marlisn than Hermida. He scored 5 runs against the Mets last year and had 5 RBI and he always just seemed to be in the middle of things when the Marlins were playing the Mets. He’s just one of those players I’m glad we won’t have to face.
