I Can’t Believe I Haven’t Written About This Yet

Last week it became public knowledge that the Mets never gave JJ Putz a physical. Seriously they never gave him a physical. Here's a quick recap of last season for Putz. He started of sorta strong for the first two weeks in April. He then started to deteriate as the month went on, blew a couple of games and then landed on the DL with bone spurs. Guess who knew that Putz had bone spurs? The Seattle Mariners! Guess who never gave Putz a Physical? The New York Mets! In the long run, the Mets didn't lose too much in the trade (and there was some degree of addition by subtratrion with the loss of Heilman. He could go on to be a good pitcher, but that would have never happen if he continued to...

The Mets Must Be the Awkward Kid at the Dance (Moves They Must Make)

The Mets must be the awkward kid at the dance. That's the only explanation I can think of right now to explain their actions. They have been linked to Sheets, Lackey, Garland, Pinero, Smoltz, Washburn and others. Out of that group Smoltz and Washburn are left. The Mets keep talking about maybe going after pitcher and improving the rotation. And then they end up being all talk or right before they go in to maybe make a move another team picks that pitcher up. For the Mets right now, it felt like that they decided to splash in the water of Sheets and not make a serious move so they wouldn't have to deal with the difficult decision of going with someone that has an upside. I think at this point, they Mets...

No Molina for the Mets! (That was a close one)

On the last day of the winter meetings, the Mets offered Benji Molina a contract to play ball this summer with the Amazin's. Molina rejected it and wanted more years (3 actually). This standoff has gone on since that time and yes, that has been quite a good bit of time. Out of almost no where yesterday, the Giants offered a smaller contract to Molina (one year, 4.5 million) and Molina signed with them, because if the difference was a million, Molina would rather stay with his old team. This thus ended this confusing time for Mets fans where we could not understand what the infactuation the Mets front office had with Molina. Molina would have been only a slight upgrade from our current catching core, and honestly, his speed could have...

Hello Mets Fans!

Hey there! My name is Elliot Teichman and I am happy to be here and happy (believe it or not) to be a Mets fan. Here’s just a bit about me. I was born in NJ but grew up in Baltimore. Luckily for me, my entire family going all the way back have been National League fans of New York Teams (my Dad’s side flying the blue of the Dodgers and my Mom’s side representing the Black and Orange of the Giants) so when the Mets came around it was a natural decision to root for them, and when I came around it was a natural decision to indoctrinate me. You may have read my writing before. I am the blogger over at 213 Miles From Shea and I also do contributing...

The Case For Dan Murphy
  • By eteichman
  • January 20th, 2010

Over the past few weeks I have been literally shocked by the amount of criticism that Dan Murphy has received. I am a big believer in Murphy and I really think/know that he cannot be a bench player next year. As a team we always talk about nuturing players and getting them ready. This guy is ready. He just needs a little more time. Why? Well look at his statistics over the season. In the second half of the season, he started to hit a lot better (hitting .285 in last 70 or so games) and the big change was Howard Johnson sat him down and talked to him about how he needed to make adjustments to his routine. That being a workhorse is not the only way to be a...
