Miami-Cleveland: Heat Face First Big Test of Season Against Powerhouse Cavaliers
With the Miami Heat off to a quick 6-1 start to the season, many people have doubted the legitimacy of the hot start due to the fact Miami hasn't played any upper echelon teams other than Denver and Phoenix, which they split.
However, the Heat will face their first big test under the national spotlight, when Eastern Conference Finalist Cleveland comes to Miami in the team's first match-up of the year.
Excitement will be high at... Read more

Mavs rebound from loss, hand Bulls ninth straight defeat
- By Vincent Kuo
- March 17, 2010 11:45:41 PM
The Dallas Mavericks got back to their winning ways and avoided the first-quarter struggles that have bothered them lately.
They also were thrilled to get Jason Terry back just two weeks after surgery to repair a broken bone in his face.
Things would've really gone great if not for a lapse in the fourth quarter.
With Jason Kidd taking the final period off, backup J.J.
Barea was part of a defensive collapse that let the Chicago Bulls turn this near-rout back into a tight game.
Then Barea recovered, scoring 10 straight points to help the Mavericks pull out a 113-106 victory Wednesday night.
"We've got to get better at closing out games," Barea said.
"But as long as we keep getting those leads and as long as we keep getting...
Questions Remain After Lakers Sweep Northern California
- By Jorn Anderson

After sweeping their Northern California swing and increasing their lead in the Western Conference standings to four games, there are still questions and doubts swirling around the Los Angeles Lakers. We’ve heard all of them before: Is Kobe Bryant shooting too much? Is Pau Gasol not shooting enough? Should Gasol keep quite about his (lack of) touches? When are the Lakers going to turn up their intensity? Bryant’s late-game heroics this season, coupled with games like his 29 points on 50 percent shooting from the field in Los Angeles’ 124-121 victory Monday night over the Golden State Warriors, have allowed the superstar to deflect much of the criticism aimed at him this season. But with performances like the one Tuesday night’s 106-99 win against the lowly Sacramento Kings, the murmurs from both fans...
Heat start out bad and end it in same fashion, lose at home to Spurs.

If you come out flat and think you're going to lose, then you deserve to lose.
The Miami Heat's mentality was that they were still playing a team of the same caliber as the Chicago Bulls, Philadelphia 76ers, and Los Angeles Clippers.
This was the San Antonio Spurs though and they are nothing like that and it was very obvious.
The Spurs jumped out to a 15 point first quarter lead and stretching the margin to as much as 27 before finally ending the game with an 88-76 win over a less than motivated Heat team.
Dwyane Wade led the Heat with 28 points, five assists, three rebounds, and three steals and didn't get much else help besides Jermaine O'Neal's 13 points and Udonis Haslem's 10 points and 12 rebounds.
The Spurs had a...
Mavs continue dominance over Bucks at home
- By Vincent Kuo

The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 108-107 on Tuesday to continue their dominance over the Bucks at home.
Dirk Nowitzki scored 28 points and Jason Terry added 21 points for the Mavs.
Carlos Delfino missed a running 10-footer in the lane at the buzzer that would have own the game for Milwaukee.
Winning games by a wide margin has been more of an exception for the Mavericks.
Dallas improved to 13-4 in games decided by five points or less, including a Nowitzki shot at the buzzer that gave the Mavericks an overtime victory earlier this season over the Bucks.
The Mavericks tied an NBA record with their 10th consecutive victory in a one-point game since January 2007.
The St.
Louis Hawks also won 10 straight one-point games from 1959-1960.

Welcome to Lakers Lockdown

Hey guys, my name is Jorn Anderson and I'll be the lead Los Angeles Lakers writer for the FanHuddle Sports Blog Network.
I know it's a little late in the season to start introductions, but better late than never, right?
While I hope this blog will help keep you up to date on all things Lakers for the rest of the NBA season, feel free to leave comments and give me feedback on anything you think I've been skimping on.
Though the regular season is taking its last gasps, I think the best is yet to come with the postseason just around the bend.
So buckle up, because if this season is any indication of what's to come, it's going to be one heck of a ride the rest of the way for...
Playing a team game: Heat win big in Detroit.
- By John
- January 30, 2010 02:01:57 PM
“That was the definition of a team win,” said Miami coach Erik Spoelstra.
It didn't have any flash and there weren't many highlight reel plays, but a 27 point win on the road is acceptable in my book any day.
Dwyane Wade only needed 24 minutes to record 22 points, 4 of 5 from beyond the arc, four rebounds, and three assists to lead his Heat team to a 92-65 win over the struggling Detroit Pistons to end a two game losing streak.
Udonis Haslem came off the bench to score 16 points and grab eight rebounds.
The Pistons shot 39% and scored only 42 points in the final three quarters.
Charlie Villanueva came off the bench to score 15 points and grab four rebounds.
Tayshaun Prince was the only starter in double...
