  • March 12th, 2010

With the Olympic break long over and technical difficulties resolved, fanhuddle coverage of the Nashville Predators got back on track as the Predators entered HP Pavillion to face the San Jose Sharks for the fourth and final time this season.

The previous three games ended in a 4-3 score.

San Jose, not surprisingly, wins the series 3 games to 1. Nashville got off to a hot start dominating the first period, but still only getting out of the first frame with a one-all tie.

Registering the first 15 shots on goal, Patric Hornqvist notched his 24th of the season, his first in 11 games.  It was a power play goal, with Dan Boyle in the box for interference. During the intermission interview, Shea Weber, playing his first game after missing the previous...

  • February 22nd, 2010

While 6  Nashville Predators are in Vancouver playing at the Olympics for their respective countries, the board of hockey operations in Nashville have been busy finalizing an agreement that will see the Sommet Center turn into the Bridgestone Arena. An official announcement is expected Tuesday. The Sommet Group and the Nashville Predators fell out of good grace with each other at the start of the season when the Predators used a competitors service to make t-shirts to hand out at the home opener in October.

To retaliate, the Sommet Group stopped paying the money they owed the Predators as part of their naming rights agreement, and also informed the media of the tax problems of owner David Freeman. Bridgestone Tires have their corporate offices in the state of Tennessee so it makes sense...

The Predators four game pre-Olympic break road trip wrapped up Sunday afternoon at the Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh. After falling apart in the third period of Friday night's 5-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils, facing the defending Stanley Cup Champions could have been a daunting task.

With last year's match in mind, fans will remember the Predators were down 3-0 by midway through the first period only to come back and win 5-3.  Which team would emerge out of the gate Sunday afternoon, Friday's team or last year's Penguins beating team? After the first period, the Predators were down 1-0, but the score could have been a lot worse.  With Ryan Jones in the box for high sticking, Sidney Crosby scored a nice power play goal.

It was his 42nd goal...

Click here for highlights from the game Thursday night in Columbus. Thursday night in Columbus, the Nashville Predators played their 41st game of the season. Halfway through the NHL season calendar, Nashville's 24-14-3 record finds them 5 wins better off than a year ago at this time. And January is sure to be a big month. Last year, the Predators missed the playoffs by 3 points. Those same Predators played 12 games in January and won only 4 of them. This year, the Predators have 13 games in January, starting with Saturday's game against Anaheim at the Sommet Center. If the Predators play in January as they did in Novemeber and December, then they will be in good position for playing down the stretch after the Olympic break. As for Thursday night, Nashville...

Having lost every game of a four game road trip, the Nashville Predators were desperate to get back in the win column Saturday night. In their first home game since the January 18th loss to the underwhelming Toronto Maple Leafs, the Predators came out with lots of energy for the first time at home in quite some time. Because of the energy, Nashville got off to a quick start. Joel Ward scored four minutes into the game. Jerred Smithson made is 2-0 with 11 minutes left to play when he took a pass in front of the net but had to spin himself around to avoid the poecheck and got a wrist shot on goal and found the back of the net as he fell to his knees. Two minutes later Bryan Little...

Two days after the Nashville Predators won their third straight game, 3-1, over the Anaheim Ducks, the team lost to the Calgary Flames by that same score. Calgary has now won five games in a row. The winning streak is the longest for the Flames this season. It was the second of a four game homestand for the Predators. After a scoreless first period, David Moss and Olli Jokinen each got a goal for Calgary. Neither player had been able to score since early December. In the third period, the Predators kept it close with Patric Hornqvist scoring his 14th of the season on the power play. But Daymond Langkow scored an empty-net goal to seal the victory. It was the fourth straight time the Calgary Flames won when visiting the Sommet Center. Nashville's record...
