NASCAR Sprint Cup Series: The Top Stories from Daytona To Atlanta-Part 1
- By Dustin Parks
- March 10th, 2010
Four races in and NASCAR has a weekend off to regroup and rest. What an incredible start to the season. Incredible victories, top teams having their struggles, and a few surprises have greeted us all. With this early break, it is time to take a look back at the stories that had us begging DAYTONA: McMurray Wins, the Track Crumbles This year's "Great American Race" could only be described in one way: weird. It was the first official race where the "Have At It" motto got tested, and it got tested well. Guys pushing, bumping, and controlling their actions made for a great race. That was until, of all things, a pot hole. Part of the track literally crumbled in turns 1 and 2, right in the racing groove. Not once, but...

This year, Hendrick Motorsports will continue that tradition.
Dale Earnhardt Jr, Jeff Gordon Jimmie Johnson and Mark Martin will all run special red, white and blue paint schemes with a special "Honoring Our Soldiers" logo in the 51st running of the Coca-Cola 600.

Each car has a unique take on the colors of the American flag.
Martin will run a metallic blue car with the red and white stripes across the bottom.

In a city where it’s all about neon, huge shows, casinos and gambling, the focus shifted from the Strip to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Many teams and drivers were looking to improve their run from last Sunday in California, while others were looking to continue a run of momentum.
With the sun in the sky and a packed house full of die-hard NASCAR fans, the Sprint Cup Series looked to make a major impression as the Shelby American went green.
Pole sitter Kurt Busch, one of the hometown boys, led the field to green, but he would fail to lead the first lap.
Coming out of turn three, outside pole sitter Jeff Gordon put the power down in his DuPont/Pepsi Max Chevrolet Impala and got the lead.
His...

Nascar Nationwide:Playoff Could Amp Up the Drama
- By Dustin Parks
- February 28th, 2010
If you look at the NASCAR Nationwide standings you will see two things. First, Kyle Busch has a commanding lead in the standings and almost has this championship wrapped up. Second, the series could use a change, preferably one that does not cost struggling organizations more than they are paying now. The Nationwide series needs a Chase format. It’s not perfect in the Sprint Cup series, but it works and it does add some drama to what used to be a dull final stretch of a long season. Right now we have two Sprint Cup regulars leading the Nationwide standings. We have leader Kyle Busch, and following behind him, Carl Edwards. Brad Keselowski is the only Nationwide regular within reach of the Championship, but even he has raced competitively in the Sprint Cup...
Ricky Rudd's toughness and endurance showed through in Martinsville

When a driver climbs into a race car, many things must happen before they start the motor. He or she goes through a check list, making sure the belts are tight , strapping on the helmet, checking radios, and putting the steering wheel in place. Possibly one of the most important pieces that drivers hook up before starting the engine has to be their cool-air system. The temperatures inside the car can get extremely warm and uncomfortable. In 1998, at the Martinsville Speedway, that fact became a severe reality for one driver. On race day, Virginia was seeing some very warm temperatures in September. The weather was beautiful with the sun shining down, but the heat was noticeable. In the midst of seeing two of baseball's biggest hitters chase a home run record,...
