On The Throttle: Was Probation for Carl Edwards the Right Punishment?
- By Amanda DiPaolo
- March 12, 2010 04:59:16 PM
Written by Amanda DiPaolo, Patti Rodisch and Dustin Parks. This week, the NASCAR writers give their take on the Carl Edwards-Brad Keselowski incident. Plus, they discuss who needs the off week most, the new rule on the "start and park" drivers, and the status of Robby Gordon in the sport. On Sunday, we saw Carl Edwards do some retaliation on Brad Keselowski for an incident earlier in the race. NASCAR has since placed Edwards on probation for the next three NSCS race weekends, with the probation spanning across all three series. What is your take on the wreck, and does the punishment fit? Also, would NASCAR have done something different had Keselowski not gone airborne? Amanda DiPaolo: Carl Edwards is lucky he didn't get kicked out of...

I apologize for not getting to this sooner.
A new wife and a full time job means I had to DVR Monday night and I only now got finished with the show.
Well, March 8 has come and gone.
TNA is officially the Monday night competition to WWE Raw.
So how did they do? Did TNA finally emerge as the alternative force that it’s always claimed to be? Did TNA prove to the world that it belongs in the same breath as WWE? Nah, not really.
Monday’s show was a slight improvement over what we’ve seen from TNA over the last few weeks.
There was more exciting (and just more) in-ring action.
The X Division was well-represented by a great triple threat match.
They even threw in a few welcomed and entertaining...
After Phoenix Open, Tiger returns home
- By Jason Henry

Hunter Mahan took home his second PGA Tour win this past weekend in Phoenix as he was crowned the champion of the Waste Management Phoenix Open in, well, Phoenix.
Mahan is only 27 years old and has been on the cusp of being great for a couple of years now.
Sunday’s win for Mahan stamped his card for arrival on the Tour and served notice that other golfers searching for the opening left by Tiger Woods that he should be considered for that spot as well.
That may not be as farfetched as you may think.
Hunter came back from four strokes down to win the Open similar to Tiger’s five stroke comeback against Sean O’Hair at last year’s Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Mahan rolled an eagle and a couple of...

- By Dustin Parks
- March 03, 2010 09:20:09 PM
The Memorial Day weekend festivities at Charlotte Motor Speedway are all about supporting the men and women in the United States Armed Forces.
This year, Hendrick Motorsports will continue that tradition.
Dale Earnhardt Jr, Jeff Gordon Jimmie Johnson and Mark Martin will all run special red, white and blue paint schemes with a special "Honoring Our Soldiers" logo in the 51st running of the Coca-Cola 600.
The logo is a shield with the American flag in the background and a bald eagle soaring at full wingspan in the foreground.
Each car has a unique take on the colors of the American flag.
Martin will run a metallic blue car with the red and white stripes across the bottom.
The eagle logo is placed behind the number in a...
So Long Survivor Series
- By Alex Aloise

Last week, Vince McMahon and the WWE announced plans to drop the Survivor Series Pay-Per-View later this year and replace it with a new, as-yet-untitled event in an effort to re-brand and re-energize their November PPV business.
WWE has been experimenting with re-branded PPVs quite a bit in the last year, introducing 4 in the last quarter of 2009 alone.
But Survivor Series? Really?
For those of you not in the know, Survivor Series has been WWE’s second-longest running annual PPV event, behind only WrestleMania.
The original event was held every year on Thanksgiving and featured multi-man tag-team elimination matches (they tended to go back and forth from 5-on-5 to 4-on-4).
This would be the one time of the year when wrestling fans could see virtually every Superstar on the then-WWF’s...
Dustin Johnson claims his second straight Pebble Beach Pro-AM title
- By Jason Henry
- February 15, 2010 09:03:07 AM
On the final day of the Pebble Beach National Pro-AM in Pebble Beach, California, there was a little drama and a lot of ambiguity as there was five lead changes before it was all said and done.
Heading into the 18th hole on Sunday Dustin Johnson was tied for the lead with David Duval and J.B.
Holmes as there was the possibility of a playoff.
The sentimental favorite to win this past weekend’s Pro-AM was former number one player in the world David Duval.
Duval hasn’t won a tournament since 2001 and was playing like the David of old on Sunday.
Duval finished up with a healthy score of 15 under par as he sank 22 birdies with only seven bogies.
Duval had a shot to take it in the end, but...
