In an embarrassing loss to the Portland Trailblazers, there were a few bright spots.
- Al Jefferson had his first double double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. It’s starting to look like Al Jefferson cannot play in the triangle.
- Corey Brewer played great defense, and over the last 2 games has shot 50% from the 3-point line.
- Jonny Flynn played pretty well. He distributed very well, yet the Wolves didn’t hit the open shots.
- Ryan Gomes had a solid game.
But the most impressive has to be Nathan Jawai, the pickup from the Dallas Mavericks.
Although it’s too early to tell, you can say that Nathan Jawai has some potential. Really what impressed me was that he seems to do a lot of things natually well. He looked above average on defense, he looked like he could pass out of the double team, and ultimately he was very efficient.
16 points and 6 rebounds in 22 minutes on 7-11 shooting. Those remind you of Craig Smith numbers.
He kept his head up while he was posting up, he looked to have very good footwork, and I can see Nathan Jawai getting some minutes against Golden State if Jefferson is continuing his inefficiency.
With Oleksiy Pecherov, it’s hard to say what he can do. Ryan Hollins has shown very little promise, and with Love gone, Jawai could possibly start at PF. Why not? He can’t be any worse than Pecherov.
Overall, great game for Jawai, he deserved his minutes.
