The past 2 NBA seasons have really set the tone for competitiveness and the desire to win a championship. We now have powerhouse teams like the Boston Celtics, who’s respective starting lineup are all All-Stars in the own respect.

With that being said, the NBA has been at an up most peak as far as popularity, after taking a heavy dip in viewers and popularity since the retirement of the NBA’s greatest player of all time, and Hall of Famer Michael Jordan.

With the advancement of the NBA, and the popularity of the league increasing, the NBA fans have been in more touch with the NBA players themselves, more than ever.

With that, comes new technology, and while the NBA has grown in it’s own respect, so has technology, and when the two meet, they form what’s called “Twitter”.

Twitter is almost like an instant messager to the general public or to their “followers”, often saying things that goes on in their lives, and is often used by the general public, celebrities, and now, NBA players.

With personalities such as Shaq, it would be hard not to read what the big fella is tweeting, and because of that, “Twitter” is more popular than ever, with almost every NBA player having an account with Twitter.

Kevin Love, AKA the “Big Twitter” has a great personality, and is one of the undisputed Twitter kings of the NBA. He, along with other NBA personalities, has tweeted various things about his life, and until this NBA season, NBA players have leaked vital information about their respective organizations, or other vital information in general.

5 months ago, Kevin Love announced almost 12 hours prior, that former President of Basketball Operations and head coach Kevin McHale, would be relieved of his coaching duties and all ties with the Minnesota Timberwolves, by new President of Basketball Operations.

Now, it appears that there’s more news via twitter, and although it’s not huge news to the NBA, it’s more than enough news to write about.

Jack McClinton, a 6′1” rookie combo guard has recently tweeted “Just got to Minnesota . Camp starts tomm . Everything happens for a reason. If one door closes another one opens. Time to get busy”.

The Wolves roster has loads of potential with Jonny Flynn, Ramon Sessions, Kevin Love and Al Jefferson as their main core, and some additional nice pieces with Ryan Gomes, Corey Brewer and Wayne Ellington.

Although young and fit to run, the Wolves are not strong from behind the arc. David Kahn stated that last years roster’s 3-point shooting was “suspect”, and “he’s not sure if he’s solved the shooting problem yet”. Wayne Ellington, Sasha Pavlovic and Ryan Gomes show promise, but that promise isn’t a guarantee.

Although Jack McClinton is only a rookie, he definetly helps the Wolves 3-point shooting, if he’s offered a contract, and by this evaluation, I hope he is offered one.

Analysis

Out of all the shooting guards, Jack McClinton was the most efficient at 1.08 PPP (points per possession). Shooting 47% from the field on a very respectable 18.6 possessions, not to mention 45% from the 3-point line. He’s not a great finisher at the basket, but his shooting ability is absolutely off the charts.

This suggests that Jack McClinton is a great asset off the bench, providing Eddie House scoring, which could benefit the Wolves greatly.

He was taken with the 21st pick in the 2nd round, and the San Antonio Spurs have recently dropped him, and now, he will compete for a roster spot on a team that desperately needs 3-point shooting.

If Jack McClinton can shoot, he has a spot on the roster, most likely as a backup to Flynn and Sessions, and in times when Flynn nor Sessions are on the floor. With Chucky Atkins and Antonio Daniels not making the team, McClinton will receive minutes at both guard positions, and it could benefit the Wolves greatly.

If you have any combination of McClinton, Flynn, Gomes, Pavlovic and Ellington on the floor, then you have shooters around Jefferson and Love, giving the Wolves a better all around offensive game.

In conclusion, the Wolves are improving, and every aspect of their game has improved compared to last season. Jack McClinton could have a big impact on that improvement.

I STRONGLY AGREE, I WAS HOPING MINNESOTA WOULD TAKE HIM IN THE DRAFT. BUT KAHN WAS TO WORRIED ABOUT PEOPLE LIKE HANK NOREL SO HE COULD LURE RICKY RUBIO HERE. THINGS DO HAPPEN FOR A REASON. SESSIONS, FLYNN, AND McCLINTON WILL MAKE US FORGET ABOUT RUBIO.
