Tempers flare, role players step it up. Heat win against ailing Bulls.
  • By John
  • March 13th, 2010

Even without Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, Luol Deng, Michael Beasley, and Dorell Wright, the Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls threw the gloves off for this one with the Heat not only coming out on top with a 108-95 win, but also late in the fourth quarter where the Bulls reached their breaking point. Jermaine O'Neal had another huge game against the Bulls this time scoring a season high 25 points, 8 of 13 shooting, and grabbing six rebounds.

Dwyane Wade was stymied most of the night by Kirk Hinrich, but somehow still managed 22 points and seven assists.

Quentin Richardson hit seven three-pointers to contribute 23 points and seven rebounds. The depleted Bulls got their scoring from rookie James Johnson who had a career high 20 points on 8 of 11 shooting....

This wasn't even a must win, this was a if you lose this, then you're in serious trouble win. No need to worry as the Heat not only got the win over the lowly Los Angeles Clippers, but they also vaulted their way into the sixth spot...along with two other teams and a Chicago Bulls team in ninth that is only a game behind and comes to visit Friday. Dwyane Wade scored 27 points, dished eight assists, and grabbed six rebounds in 30 minutes of play before sitting out the fourth quarter.

Jermaine O'Neal came on strong in the end to score 19 and grab nine rebounds.

Michael Beasley was limited because of a minor injury and finished with 15 points. Rasual Butler came two points off his career high and finished with...

Heat blow it late against Charlotte, lose 83-78.

Eric Reid kept repeating it: There is no such thing as a blown first half lead.

It's very true, especially when it's midway through the second quarter, but at 42-27 with momentum in your direction and the Charlotte Bobcats shooting terrible, you need to take advantage. Their 15 point 2nd quarter lead evaporated into nine by halftime and then four by the end of the third before finally being outscored 21-12 in the final frame to secure a chance of strengthening the seven seed by losing 83-78 to a Bobcats team that is hot.

The Heat scored 30 in the first quarter and 48 in the final three quarters. Dwyane Wade led the way with 27 points, 11 of 26, seven rebounds, and two assists.  Jermaine O'Neal supported the cause with 19...

Playing a team game: Heat win big in Detroit.

  • March 10th, 2010

“That was the definition of a team win,” said Miami coach Erik Spoelstra. It didn't have any flash and there weren't many highlight reel plays, but a 27 point win on the road is acceptable in my book any day. Dwyane Wade only needed 24 minutes to record 22 points, 4 of 5 from beyond the arc, four rebounds, and three assists to lead his Heat team to a 92-65 win over the struggling Detroit Pistons to end a two game losing streak. Udonis Haslem came off the bench to score 16 points and grab eight rebounds. The Pistons shot 39% and scored only 42 points in the final three quarters. Charlie Villanueva came off the bench to score 15 points and grab four rebounds. Tayshaun Prince was the only starter in double...

Get used to it, Mario Chalmers is the point guard the Heat need.
  • By John
  • March 10th, 2010

In many other drafts, Mario Chalmers would be a first round draft pick, probably going in the top 15 picks. Fortunately for the Miami Heat, last year's draft happened to be one of the most point guard stacked draft's in recent history. When Chalmers dropped, the Heat rose to the occasion and traded for point guard out of Kansas from the Minnesota Timberwolves who had drafted Chalmers with the 34th pick in the draft. Derrick Rose, OJ Mayo, Russell Westbrook, and DJ Augustin were all held in high regards declaring for the draft. Three of the point guards were taken within the first four picks and four of them were taken within the first nine picks. Chalmers was the fifth point guard taken in the draft and before even playing a...

The Killer Crossover: A Tribute to Tim Hardaway
  • By John
  • March 10th, 2010

The 1990's were a tough time for the Miami Heat. They were a developing young team and looking to make a statement in an Eastern Conference led by the likes of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls, but the Heat were developing into one of the top NBA cities of the league and it has Tim Hardaway to thank for that. Hardaway began his illustrious basketball career as a member of the UTEP Miners where he would win the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award which is awarded for the top player standing at six feet tall or under. Standing at only 6'0" and weighing 175 pounds soaking wet, Hardaway knew how to use his small stature to his advantage and made an NBA career out of it. Timmy would be drafted 14th overall...
