Taking a Look at a Disapointing Offseason

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim had a tough end to their season losing to the eventual World Series Champion New York Yankees.
While it appeared that the Yankees were unstoppable the Angels had a fair amount of opportunities to take control of the series.
Coming into the off-season that was short on big names in free agency the Angels were exoected to make a serious bid for Toronto Blue Jay Ace Roy Halladay.
While at the same time they were focusing much of their energy on retaining current ac John Lackey.
The Angels made a great offer to Lackey and an great offer to the Blue Jays for Halladay.
The Blue Jays however were apparently far more concerned with trading Halladay out of the A.L.
than they were getting great...
Angels Look to Continue Impressive Start to Postseason

After getting the perverbial monkey off their back in sweeping the Red Sox the Angels now turn their attention to another familiar opponent.
The New York Yankees have been the most talked about team in baseball all year long.
While their past struggles against the Angels have been duely noted, the past will have no bearing on this series.
Coming into this ALCS there aren't a lot of people giving the Angels a chance to beat the Yankees and with what little people actually know about this Angels team, I can't say I blame them.
Since the All-Star break the Angels and Yankees have been by far the two most impressive teams in baseball.
With the heavy east coast bias that exists in the sports media today it is tough for a team...
Early Season Observations 3

Opening the season with two wins certainly gives the Minnesota Vikings the start they wanted.
Opening the season with two wins, and having yet to hit the home turf gives the Vikings an even added boost.
Averaging an impressive 30 points per game, good for fourth in the league, the Vikings have easily passed the first two tests of the season.
Playing two patsies, the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions, a combined 0-4, and what the heck just for fun, counting last year, a combined 4-32, yikes!) the Vikings should have won, and won easily.
The Vikings are an NFL powerhouse and should look impressive in putting away lightweights.
However, let's identify some flaws that have shown up, even though admittedly it is very early to draw any real conclusions...

Will Posada catch Burnett in the postseason?
- By Brad Stewart

A.J. Burnett has a 3.09 ERA over his last 5 starts. During the course of those 32 innings, he has struck out 37 batters while walking 14. It's certainly been an impressive way to end the regular season, as Burnett seems to have figured it out at the right time. Even more impressive is that 6 of the 11 ER A.J. gave up were in one inning to Baltimore back on the 12th. If you subtract that one inning from his line, A.J. would have a 1.45 ERA over 31 innings pitched. While this dominance is definitely a good sign prior to the playoffs, one element that truly complicates matters is Jose Molina's involvement during those 5 starts. Steve Lombardi (WW) and Ben K. (RAB) have already demarcated the issue. Jose...
