Justin – I’ve heard the talk regarding “Jesus” (as some of his ‘mates are calling him – the Savior, get it?) coming North with the club. I’ll agree that he’ll have a good deal of value when he’s called up, but don’t believe the talk. It’s all about $$ – the Nats want us to THINK he’s starting with the club so they’ll sell tix, but by delaying him a few months (like McCutchen last year or Longoria the year before) the team starts his clock later and buys another whole year before SS is eligible for arbitration. I’d love to be proven wrong!

Good article but I have to disagree on Strasburg. The Nats are talking about starting him in the bigs and I think he’ll be a top 40 p this year

GREAT Article! Though I LIKE the info about the Yanks on Sportscenter – great point about closers. I always reach for a big name closer in the early rounds, but I’m going to try to wait this year and see how it works.

JP,

I thought I was on the same page as Mauer, but think one of my good friends made this case.

1) he is a catcher so he will not play 158/162.

2) he is moving into a new stadium where the elements will cut down two months of the season.

3) He has had injury problems.

4) Victor Martinez isn’t that far behind him with all things being equal.

Just some thoughts.
