A Look Ahead at the 2010 Detroit Tigers Schedule
  • By Austin Drake

A Major League Baseball schedule is always going to have it’s ups and it’s downs. It will have it’s long road trips and it’s homestands that should amount to many victories.

The Detroit Tigers complete 2010 schedule was released not to long ago and I would like to give a look ahead on what to expect next season.

April
The 2010 regular season kicks off in Kansas City as the Tigers will take on the Royals for three in four days before heading home.

Detroit will host the Cleveland Indians in their Opening Day on Friday, April 9, a weekend series.

Mid-April brings the first road trip of the year as the Tigers travel to Seattle, Los Angeles and Texas for 11 games in a row stretching from the 16th through the 26th.

May
Early this month the Tigers will get to travel to Minnesota, but not to the Metrodome. The 3rd-5th will be Detroit’s first appearance at the new Target Field.

The middle of May will have the Tigers first long homestand of the year. In nine games at Comerica Park, Detroit will host the Yankees, Red Sox and the White Sox, three phenomenal teams.

Detroit will then go on another west coast swing, have three against the Dodgers, and finish up the month at home versus Oakland.

June
The Tigers get into the interleague play at home as they face Pittsburgh the 11th-13th, the Nationals 15th-17th and then the Diamondbacks the 18th-20th for a weekend series.

Then the pitchers will have to bat. Detroit makes trips to visit the Mets and the Braves to complete interleague play.

July
If you want to come out and see the Tigers this summer, this is the month. Detroit has 16 home games, while they have 12 on the road.

They start the month with a homestand against Seattle, Baltimore and Minnesota. Starting the 19th they play seven against Texas and Toronto.

July ends as Detroit travels to the American League East playing Tampa Bay and Boston.

August
This will be a big month for Detroit. Chances are they will be sitting around the top of the division and in August they face some tough opponents.

In August, Comerica Park will play host to the White Sox, Angels, Rays, Indians and Royals. Detroit will travel to play the White Sox, Yankees and Blue Jays.

September
The final month of the season will be an American League Central dominanted schedule for the Tigers.

Detroit will play 21 of it’s 26 games in September against division foes.

The Tigers will end the regular season in Baltimore for a couple as they will need some big wins for the pennant race.

Austin- Just a heads up, but the regular season ends October 3, not September 30. That single game in Baltimore is in fact the first of a four game series that ends the season. Otherwise, good information.

Wow. Thanks, John. Absolutely NO CLUE how I missed that. We’re just going to forget that it ever happened.
