Pistons overtake Hawks only to be taken down by the Bulls
  • By theck25
  • December 3rd, 2009

It's amazing what a difference a few days can make. On Sunday the Detroit Pistons were on fire snapping their seven game losing streak against the Atlanta Hawks and firing on all cylinders.  However, in last night's loss against the Chicago Bulls there seemed to be a completely different team on the floor. Sunday's 94-88 win over the Hawks seemed to finally be the positive turn that the Pistons had been looking for. The team has struggled this season with a new lineup, a new coach and a new offensive minded strategy. To make matters worse they have also had to contend with a number of injuries that have kept two of their key players in Richard Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince out of the lineup.  Sunday's game was also played without Ben Gordon. Before Sunday,...

It's been a rough couple of weeks for the struggling Detroit Pistons. The team had a tough West Coast trip that ended in five straight losses to the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trailblazers, Utah Jazz and Phoenix Suns. The Pistons then came home to lose to rivals the Cleveland Cavaliers and continued their losing streak tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers 104-96. The team has continued to be plagued by injuries with both Richard Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince still missing from their lineup and today guard Ben Gordon joined them on the sidelines with a sprained left ankle. The only bright spot to the losses and injuries has been the fact that the bench players are getting plenty of playing time. Rookie Austin Daye made his first career start in Gordon's place and...

Coming off of two home wins, the Detroit Pistons head to Washington tonight to take on the Wizards. Much like the Pistons, the Wizards have been plagued by early injuries.  Just eight games into the season former Pistons/current Wizards coach Flip Saunders has already had to switch his lineup around nine different times.  As a result the team has gone 0-5 in November. However, things are looking up for the Wizards tonight with both star forward Antawn Jamison and Mike Miller returning to the lineup after both suffering left shoulder injuries. The Pistons will still be playing without starters Richard Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince but they still have the momentum going into the game....

Detroit Pistons return with a new attitude and a slightly newer look

Last season was a disappointing one for the Detroit Pistons team. After a long season full of injuries, in fighting and constant lineup changes, the Pistons suffered a early first round exit from the playoffs at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers. During the disappointing season the team underwent a number of changes that included a new rookie coach in Michael Curry and a disastrous trade that sent Pistons' star guard Chauncey Billups to the Denver Nuggets for guard Allen Iverson. Chemistry problems and numerous injuries had Curry playing with his lineup on a game to game basis.  The constant change led to Detroit missing  the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in six years. After having been a Powerhouse in the East since their surprising 2004 championship season, the team and General...

After a Summer full of new moves and new strategies, the Detroit Pistons will kick off their season tomorrow night in Memphis against the Grizzlies. During the preseason the Pistons were 4-4.  At times the team seemed to click and seemed to be running on all cylinders. Coach John Kuester used the preseason to allow his entire team to rack up some playing time.  11 players on the roster averaged 16 or more minutes.  Kuester wants to have confidence in the fact that anytime during the season any of his players can step in if needed. Will Bynum, who used the Summer to lose some weight and work on his shooting, was the star of the preseason.  Rodney Stuckey also showed promise in the preseason after struggling at the end of the season...
