Carmelo Anthony named NBA All Star starter for the West Team
- By Chris "UZ" White
- January 23rd, 2010
The curse has finally been lifted, and all it took was one of the single greatest seasons in Nugget history to do so.
I am of course referring to Carmelo Anthony being named a starter for the NBA All Star game, a title that has for his many years in Denver eluded him until now.
The man from the Cuse has had many a great season since coming to Denver and has never missed the playoffs in his time, but just could never get over his hump of being underrated and almost forgotten by the media and fan voters.
Funny how being the leading scorer in the NBA on an elite squad like the Nuggets can change all of that.
Denver fans can probably look forward to him being on the All...
The Slide has stopped, the Nuggets are winning, all is right!

Back nearing the end of 2009 (It’s just barely ’10, remember!) there was a bit of concern following Nuggets nation in the form of below .500 teams not just beating the Nuggets, but beating the Nuggets soundly and with scarily easy force behind them.
With horrible losses to teams including the ever-powerhouse Clippers and Kings, it looked like that magical season Nuggets fans were hoping for
I wrote a column on how Nuggets fans were panicked into wanting to not only trade Melo, but fire George Karl on account of him being “the worst coach in basketball.” Nuggets Nation was a bit over their heads with fear and loathing for the future.
While a playoff berth seemed 100% certain still, the seed was starting to waver and any Nuggets fan who...
Shorthanded Nuggets handle the Cavs, 99-97
- By Chris "UZ" White

After that bad streak we saw from the Nuggets on the road, it’s good to see that they can handle themselves at home.
The Nuggets defeated the Cavaliers 99-97 tonight with the home-court advantage.
Missing Melo and Ty Lawson was obviously going to hurt the Nuggets.
Having Birdman and Nene nursing recent injuries was even worse.
In fact, only 8 members of the dressed roster managed to get time on the court! Despite the Nuggets doing their best impression of the Trail Blazers, they managed to snag the win at home using what they’ve been using since Melo left; teamwork.
Five members of the team out of the eight that saw playing time wound up with double digits.
The team was led by de-facto defensive leader Kenyon Martin who managed to get...
Nuggets drop to the Pacers in China, 126-104
- By Chris "UZ" White
- January 9th, 2010
In a high-scoring affair the Nuggets dropped their first game in China – And the first ever NBA preseason game in Taiwan! – against the Pacers 126-104. The Pacers managed 3 players with 20 points as they snagged 14 3-pointers out of 25 chances. Nobody on the Nuggets managed to hit 20, led by 17 by Carmelo Anthony. After a few preseason games with spotty appearances by most of their bench – Namely the Birdman and JR Smith – the Nuggets played most of their mainstays this game minus Ty Lawson and Nene. Over the evening the Nuggets were killed in just about every major statistic, from rebounds to steals. To give some perspective, the only statistic they led in was Free Throw %. The Nuggets never held a lead in this game...
With Jones gone can Afflalo be the man?
- By Chris "UZ" White
- January 9th, 2010
It’s quite obvious that the Nuggets think they have a team that can go all the way. Their off-season – or lack thereof – shows that rather well. One of the few cogs in the otherwise smooth gears of the Nuggets organization last year was a lack of a real Shooting Guard. One of the few moves we saw the Nuggets undertake over the offseason was the removal of 1-year starter Dahntay Jones and the acquisition of Aaron Afflalo from the Detroit Pistons. It’s not the kind of trade that makes headlines, but to a Nuggets fan it has to raise the question; will it pay off in the end? Afflalo is the only pure SG on the team at the moment, so it’s obvious he was brought in to be...
2 games in the fans already want to trade Melo? What?
- By Chris "UZ" White

Following the 125-100 loss to the Hawks the other day, I was browsing the internet looking around other sites with Nuggets information and writings as I tend to do when I have nothing better to do. I came across a post by an author (creatively named ‘nuggetsfan’) involving how much better the Nuggets would be if they traded Carmelo Anthony. Wait… WHAT?! Yes, that’s right. After a 2-loss streak eight games into a season some people are actually pressing the panic button and blaming anything they possibly can… including the super-star leader of the team. Words escape me! The idea of Carmelo being useless to the team was mostly revolved around him being a “ball hog”. You know who else is a ball hog? LeBron James. Michael Jordan was quite the ball hog as well. I don’t believe...
