You're not alone, Dave. In fact, many Bronco fans are trying to "digest the dilemna" ever since Josh McDaniels became head coach last year. You are correct to point out that Shanahan's off-season moves regarding top Bronco players entering FA would have been more predictable - at least two or three of these guys would be looking at long-term contracts as rewards for their outstanding play and in order to insure they would stay in Denver playing at a high level for several seasons to come. Things have changed with the stubbornly impulsive Josh McDaniels at the helm. The tender put on Brandon Marshall is a pure diss, and why the Broncos would not be locking up Kuper and Dumervil to longer term contracts is truly a head-scratcher. I for one have been a loyal fan of the Broncos for more than 30 years, and I will not become a true fan of any other team. However, just like the national economy is in the doldrums, so too are the current Broncos. The changes McDaniels has made and the new "stamp" of his personality does not jive here in the Rocky Mountains. Something just does not feel right about this guy and the way he has forced the Patriot way onto the Denver Bronco organization. I'll always root for the team but it does not "feel" the same way it had for the past 3 decades.

Very nice article Dave. Totally worth the wait... and I sure have waited awhile to read this, I know. Let me have it. Blame the homework. lol I miss that #87 but he gave the football world a legacy I know I won't forget, more so because he spent more time being a Bronco. Wish more football players, heck athletes in general, would have his kind of attitude on AND off the field. That's what made him so great and unforgettable.

Thanks guys. Doesn't seem like anyone wants to drop in and leave their thoughts, etc., about this exceptional player?
No, FTR, it was my Buckhalter story, if I recall correctly?
I was hoping to hear back from Ed on this for info, but not a peep...

It shouldn't affect McD one way or the other unless any of the Broncos lie on the stand.
As for Darrent, sometimes it's a necessary evil. At least this can finally, God willing, put this matter to rest and let the Williams family put some closure to this. They have not put this aside, I'm sure, until the killer is brought to justice and pays the piper.
Always look at this from the victim's family's point of view, rather than your own. It wasn't someone from your immediate family, so, understandably, it wouldn't affect you as closely. I have known deep loss and it is never easy to forget till all the pieces of the puzzle are put together and in doing so, you are able to move forward to the next chapter in your life.

And I don't know about you guys but it bums me out even reading about the case in the news. It’s a nightmare that we all will have to relive. But after 3 years it will be in HD in the media.

I agree with DC. I believe they will stay. McD said a great system with great players. Great players come at a high price. You sometimes have to pay for them. Otherwise you end up with "maybe's" and "never will be's."
