Battle of Ohio: Easy Victory for Bengals???

When you see the Cleveland Browns on your schedule you almost always want to put a check mark in the win column because that should be an easy win right?

Well in a heated rivalry that the Bengals and Browns have, it’s not always such an easy game to expect a win for either team. This is a game where records don’t matter and neither do the opponents you beat the week before.

Last week the Bengals were in a dog fight with the Super Bowl champs and they were barely holding on. If it wasn’t for the red zone defense of the Bengals the Steelers would have been up by a lot more than just 13-3 at the half.

Give credit to Cincy they made plays when they needed to and drove the ball down the field, and scored when they needed to and had a big victory against their division rivals.

Now it is time for them to get back to work, because a loss to a team like the Browns will off set what they have just accomplished in beating Pittsburgh.

The Browns have started this season off the way the left last season off, which is losing games.

They announced that Brady Quinn would be their starter, but he hasn’t done anything to help this teams chances of winning. Last week was a really bad week for Quinn going six for eight only gaining 34 yards and throwing an interception and no touchdowns.

Derek Anderson took over after a while, but to no success going 11-19 for 92 yards and three interceptions.

If the defense can play as solid as they have been then they should go in there and take care of business with another win against a divisional opponent. They can’t expect Quinn or Anderson to play as bad as last week. If they let the Browns get into rhythm this could be another shootoff between the two teams.

The Browns have announced that Anderson will be their starting quarterback, so it’s important to make him uncomfortable in the pocket and cause him to make the same mistakes he did last week against Baltimore.

Offensively they have to limit turnovers and play the whole game like they did the fourth quarter against the Steelers. They have continuously shot themselves in the foot and they need to get it under control. One bad decision or mistake can lose you the game, and the Bengals experinced this in week one against Denver.

I do think the Bengals will win this game, and with Baltimore playing New England they have a big shot at taking the lead in the division to Baltimore October 11th.
