Why Antonio Bryant, Why Not?
  • By Kyle Strittholt
  • March 11th, 2010

It was Wednesday that Antonio Bryant’s Agent stated that his client has a verbal agreement to wear the Bengals stripes this season for Cincinnati.

He has supposedly signed a four year $28 million with the team. Out of all the free agents he was me least likely pick to become a Bengal, but I guess they had a different idea. Antonio Bryant is a player that hasn’t really had the right opportunity to shine where he was at in Tampa Bay.

The Buccaneers have been struggling to find a quarterback and had rookie Josh Freeman under center this season. In 2008 Bryant caught 83 passes for 1,248 yards and eight touchdowns, but as an encore performance this season he had 39 catches for 600 yards and four touchdown catches less than half the...

After Giving Coles the Boot, Bengals Entering Hunt For Brandon Marshall?
  • By Kyle Strittholt
  • March 8th, 2010

In the quest for a new receiver the Bengals have looked at all options for a player that will help their team succeed.

After an unsuccessful attempt with Laveranues Coles they terminated his contract this past Friday and will now look for a person to fill the void. Coles made the comment that he “didn’t fit the offense” and “Carson wasn’t comfortable throwing to him.” One thing was for certain there was no production with him and in my opinion they should have never rid themselves of TJ Houshmandzadeh. Houshmandzadeh was a key part of this offensive passing attack being so effective and his loss put a huge damper on the team.

He was Palmer’s go to guy when we needed a first down and was such a physical presence on a...

Dancing with the Stars Picks up Ochocinco, Oh What a Fiesta This Should Be
  • By Kyle Strittholt
  • March 2nd, 2010

ABC announced who will appear on the next season of Dancing with the Stars and it includes an Olympic Star, an ESPN reporter, and none other than Chad Ochocinco. This does not come as a shock to me I was actually surprised it took the show this long to get Chad on there. Ochocinco always runs his mouth with the famous “anything you can do, I can do better” wanting to race a horse, swim against Michael Phelps, and box Mike Tyson. This puts Chad in the spotlight to see if he can do more than talk trash and have controversial end zone celebrations.

This will be interesting to see, but I doubt that Cincy’s star receiver will last very long since this show is a popularity contest and there are a lot...

Should the Bengals Draft Cincinnati Product Mardy Gilyard?
  • By Kyle Strittholt
  • March 2nd, 2010

The Bengals have always had some solid receiving core when TJ Houshmandzadeh was paired with Chad “Johnson” Ochocinco and was considered one of the best receiver duo’s in the NFL.   Although when TJ left to Seattle this past season the Bengals have not had that dominance they once had.   Looking at the receivers on paper prior to this season I thought they had a great chance of being a phenomenal group, but with Coles not producing and the loss of Chris Henry it didn’t work out like they’d hoped.   Before Chris Henry passed I was still thinking the Bengals needed a solid receiver either out of free agency or in the draft. The only thing about the draft is you have to simulate whether or not they can translate their skills into the...

Bengals Well on Pace to Make it to The Playoffs
  • By Kyle Strittholt
  • March 2nd, 2010

When you look at the Bengals in the past couple seasons they have always had great talent, but something always went wrong. Whether by arrests or injuries the Bengals have consistently lost some key players at the beginning of the season.   At the beginning of training camp the Bengals lost two of their starting tight ends to season ending injuries, and in the first week of preseason lost their starting quarterback. It looked as if it was going to be another one of those years, but at the fourth week of the season the Bengals are still solid.   It hasn’t only been injuries but mistakes and missed assignments as well. The first week of the season the Bengals defense was standing solid against Denver, and the offense was moving the ball, but...

Cedric Benson to Make His Return against Detroit, another Day on the Ground?
  • By Kyle Strittholt
  • March 2nd, 2010

After sitting out with an injury Cedric Benson will return for the Bengals Sunday against the Detroit Lions.   When Marvin Lewis was asked on how he would use his new trio of running backs he simply said his job is to win games.   After a very productive couple of weeks in the running game without Benson in the lineup I don’t think that Cincy will only use one back especially in this game. If Benson still has some soreness in the hip then I expect for rookie Bernard Scott and Larry Johnson to get a lot more playing time.   Cedric Benson should definitely start the game because out of all the backs he is the most productive and gives the offense the biggest chance for success, but it will be interesting to see...
