* e Red Sox fans rejoice!! Spring training has begun anew, Boston has had a busy off season, so get your line up cards out. Every year the Red Sox have to deal with the mighty checkbook of the Yankees, who simply by a new Mercedes when ever they need one. GM Theo Epstein has done a remarkable job rebuilding last years roster, Boston should be faster and better on the base paths and in the field.

The days of a bloop and a steroid aided blast are over for Major League Baseball, and the Red Sox are adjusting to this new way of thinking.

By adding CF Mike Cameron, and SS Marco Scutaro, Boston has addressed their biggest need, which was an improved defense.

Red Sox Clinch American League Wild Card

It’s that time of the year again… playoff time. What more could Boston ask for. Oh yeah, maybe their second World Series title in the past 3 years. The Red Sox have clinched the American League Wild Card and a slated to face the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the Division Series. The matchup bodes well for the Red Sox who have had much success against the Angels in previous seasons. The Red Sox complete the season with a 4 game series against the Cleveland Indians at Fenway Park before the Division Series. Francona Announces Pitching Rotation for Playoffs

As the the Red Sox prepare to face the Angles in the American League Division Series, Manager Terry Francona announced his pitching rotation today. As expected Jon Lester will get the ball in Game 1, and could conceivably start on short rest in Game 4. Lester will be followed by Josh Beckett, who appears to over his back spasms, in Game 2. Beckett would then be available to go a on full rest in Game 5 if necessary. Lastly, Clay Buchholz will start Game 3 looking to keep his solid second half of the season going. The Red Sox just can't seem to muster any offense against the Angels, and it has put them in a sticky situation facing elimination being down 2 games to 0 in this Division Series. Josh Beckett pitched well in as he only gave up 5 hits and a walk in 6.2 innings but surrendered 4 runs. Offensively the Red Sox could only put together 4 hits and 1 run. They will have to reverse their hitting trend if they want to get back into the series. Sunday Clay Buchholz will take the ball for the Sox.
