Shallowest Position for 2010
  • By Mike Ketchen
  • November 2nd, 2009

Most who play Fantasy Baseball have heard the term “positional scarcity”.  It can have major impacts on drafts and the value assigned to certain players.

The funny part about that phrase however, is that it is extremely subjective.

Everyone can determine for themselves which position is shallow and which position is deep.

The problem with this? Well, of course most people get it wrong (maybe even an expert from time to time).

Luckily for all of you I posed this question to our panel and you can read their response for the simple price of free.

So relax and enjoy the discussion about which position is shallowest heading into the 2010 season.

Is Mauer Worth a Top 10 Pick?
  • By Mike Ketchen
  • October 23rd, 2009

When looking at Joe Mauer and considering where he will be drafted next season, it is not so much a question of “if” with the regards to the first round.

Rather, is he really worth it? Sure the average from catcher is awesome but is the power legit? Can he score a 100+ runs? What about drive in 100+? All good questions.

So, let’s dig in and see if people will be making a big mistake next year in taking Mauer in the first round. Nick Kappel of Fantasy Baseball insider: Joe Mauer is absolutely NOT worthy of a top-10 pick in 2010, and here’s why: I recently released a 2010 Top 10 Big Board.

Nine of the top 10 players are hitters, and all nine hitters have hit at least 24 HR...

Is Matt Kemp a Top Ten Pick?
  • By Mike Ketchen
  • October 16th, 2009

Is Matt Kemp a top ten pick? Well, yes, no and it depends are all acceptable answers.

In a standard 5x5 black and white scenario I think without question he is.

After all how many players are still true five tool talents? But fantasy baseball is not black and white and outside factors such as positional scarcity and counting stat production have to be weighed heavily.

So as you read the response to this week’s question.

Keep all of these factors in mind.

Now enjoy the round table discussion on Kemp and if he is or isn’t worth a top ten pick. Nick Kappel of Fantasy Baseball insider: To determine whether or not Matt Kemp is a top-10 player, a simpler question must be answered: Are there more than nine players...
