\Baltimore Ravens v Minnesota Vikings

Second year quarterback Joe Flacco has sat out the past two practices with a swollen, sore ankle. Flacco is currently the carrier of the team, so it is obvious that caution is being taken with him. His foot was stepped on numerous times in Sunday’s 33-31 last second loss to the Vikings.

He was walking gingerly many times after being stepped on. He was tripped up when his shoe laces got caught on Vikings DT Pat Williams, and was seen limping. He stayed on the field during that drive, and didn’t appear to have any visible pain or trouble walking.

Head Coach John Harbaugh reiterated that it was precautionary act, and that Flacco isn’t actually hurt that bad.

“He says he’s feeling great,” Harbaugh said.  “He’s flexible, he’s walking around pretty normally on it. I think he’s about four shoe sizes bigger right now than it was before, so he’s really swollen. He says it feels remarkably well, so he should be back practicing Monday.”

Flacco seemed to think so as well.

“I could play if I had to,” Flacco said on Wednesday. “I got my left foot stepped on in the first quarter, and it caused me to roll up my right ankle. The rest of the game, I kind of just got stepped on a couple of times. It’s no big deal. I’m walking pretty good today and running pretty good.”

Starting LT Jared Gaither is making a full recovery from the neck injury that sidelined him for two weeks. His absence was noticeable as the Ravens failed to get a good push in the running game.

Kelly Washington was banged up by a big hit by Vikings Safety Madieu Williams. Washington left the field for a few plays before returning and catching one more pass. Demetrius Williams filled in for him and caught his first pass of the season, good for 17 yards.

“It wasn’t anything serious,” Washington said.  “It was just a good, clean hit.  I was able to get back in there later but had to clear my head a little.”
