Joe Smith: A Terp-ulant Road to Atlanta
- By Notty Dred
- December 15th, 2009
Bionic. Sweet pea. The beast. Just a few nicknames given to Joe Smith over the years by his mom and peers. Each name given to Joe details a part of his life on his journey from Norfolk, Virginia to Atlanta, Georgia. Born July 26, 1975 to Joe McFarland and Letha Smith, Joe Smith was the youngest of 7 children. He was 14 years younger than the 6th child which often times left him alone with his mother. Being 22 inches long at birth Joe was already developing rapidly and by the age of 2 he had earned his first nickname, Bionic, because he pulled the telephone unit from the wall socket by playing with the phone. Being the youngest of 7, Joe had to fight and be tough to hang around...
Othello the Roster Hunter
- By Notty Dred

Making an NBA roster for undrafted players is like meat to starving man. In times of recession and the 13 man roster (for that reason), it's survival of the fittest. For 6 years now Othello has been a survivor in this game known simply as basketball. Tegba Othello Hunter was born May 28, 1986 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where he was born, raised and rooted in basketball. Othello began playing basketball at 17 year old. He played basketball 1 year at Richard J. Reynolds High School where he excelled at basketball due to his work ethic and athleticism. He was not highly recruited by division 1 schools out of high school thus Othello would have to fight to play basketball on the level he had dreams of. He would enroll in Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida...

Can you say first place! Yea, yea. It has only been one game, but the Atlanta Hawks are currently tied for first place in the division as well as the Eastern conference overall standings after defeating the Indiana Pacers 120-109 in front of 18,000 fans at Phillips Arena Wednesday. In a game where the defense was sporadic at best, the Hawks showed versatility on offense from players 1-10. Players 1-10? This is not a misprint. Coach Woodson, who is notorious for going only 7 deep, went 10 deep last night versus the Pacers. Josh Smith and Joe Johnson were the only players to play 35 minutes or more. Jason Collins and Randolph Morris were the only players bolted to the bench Wednesday night as newcomers Joe Smith (11 minutes) and Jamal Crawford (14...
